VOICE AI · COMING SOON
Multilingual voice AI for hotel bookings
Planned multilingual Voice AI will answer your guests’ calls in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu, Odia, Gujarati and more Indian languages, so a voice enquiry converts as cleanly as a website form, at any hour.
The same booking engine, dashboard and guest records you already use on OpenStays, extended to the phone line your guests already call.
Voice AI is planned. WhatsApp AI is available today.
The call your front desk still has to answer
Most small properties already send guests to WhatsApp for booking questions and for many guests that works well. But calls have not gone away. An older guest, a guest more comfortable speaking than typing, or someone standing at a noisy bus stand trying to confirm a room, still picks up the phone and dials the number on your listing.
Right now, without Voice AI, that call goes straight to you or whoever is on duty. If a room gets booked over that call, someone has to remember to open the dashboard afterwards and enter it by hand, the same way front desks have done it for years.
It is also, for a lot of Indian properties, a busier channel than owners expect. A guest who is fine typing in English on WhatsApp for a city hotel may still prefer to call and speak in Kannada or Bengali about a homestay, especially an older guest or one travelling with family and negotiating on someone else’s behalf. Calling also does not need mobile data or a smartphone the way WhatsApp does, which matters for a guest phoning from a train, a bus stand, or an area with patchy internet but a working phone signal.
Multilingual Voice AI for Hotel Bookings closes that gap: every call answered, in the guest’s own language, logged automatically.

What changes for your front desk once Voice AI is answering.
What multilingual voice AI does
Multilingual Voice AI for Hotel Bookings is the second layer of OpenStays’ AI stack, sitting alongside the WhatsApp AI Concierge rather than replacing it. Where the WhatsApp Concierge is OpenStays’ Basic AI tier and already answers guests over text, Voice AI is the Advanced AI tier: the same idea, extended to a phone call.
It answers an incoming call in the language the guest is already speaking, not just English or Hindi. The language list is Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu, Odia, Gujarati and more Indian languages, which matters for a country where the guest calling about a homestay in Coorg and the guest calling about a hotel in Guwahati are unlikely to be comfortable in the same language.
A voice enquiry converts as cleanly as a website form, available 24 hours a day, so a call that comes in at 11pm gets handled with the same consistency as one at 11am, whether or not anyone happened to be near the phone.
Languages planned for Voice AI.

The same routing logic already running on the WhatsApp AI Concierge, extended to the phone.
What it will not try to do
The WhatsApp AI Concierge already draws a line between questions it answers directly and questions it hands to you: a guest asking what time check in is gets an instant, correct answer; a guest asking for a special request that needs judgement gets routed to a human. Voice AI follows the same principle on a call. It handles the routine, repeatable questions, rates, availability, directions, what is included, reliably and in the guest’s language and flags anything unusual or sensitive for you to call back on, rather than guessing.
That is a deliberate design choice. An automated voice that confidently answers a question it should not is worse than one that says, honestly, that it will have someone call back.
Where this matters most
Properties outside the big cities
A homestay in a smaller town or a hill station tends to get more calls, not fewer, because guests there are more likely to call before they book than message a number they do not recognise. Answering consistently in the guest’s own language matters more here than almost anywhere else.
Properties that lose calls during check-in rush
The hour when guests are arriving is also the hour a ringing phone is hardest to answer. A call that goes unanswered at 4pm is a guest who may just call the next listing instead.
What it costs
Voice AI is planned and is not currently available. Its pricing has not been announced. Each outgoing WhatsApp message, including AI replies, uses 1 credit. Incoming messages are free and purchased credits never expire.
Voice calls are billed per minute rather than per credit the way a WhatsApp message is. The exact per minute rate is shown to you before you switch the feature on, so nothing is billed silently in the background. The free starting credits every plan already includes, 500 on the Small plan, 5000 on the Medium plan, a custom allocation on the largest plan, sit in that same shared balance, so they cover Voice AI calls too, not just WhatsApp messages.
Every OpenStays plan, from the smallest homestay tier upward, includes Voice AI in the same automation credit system.
What happens to the guest’s voice and data
OpenStays’ published privacy policy covers voice AI conversations alongside WhatsApp AI ones: call transcripts and conversation logs are collected as part of delivering the service, under the same consent and data protection terms, DPDP Act compliant, that already apply to your guests’ WhatsApp conversations and Guest ID records.
Payment details are handled the same way they already are on OpenStays: card, UPI and bank details are processed directly by the payment gateway, never stored on OpenStays’ own systems, whether the payment was set up over WhatsApp, on the booking page, or on a call.
How it fits alongside WhatsApp AI
Two channels, one property
A call handled by Voice AI is treated no differently from a WhatsApp conversation handled by the Concierge: same guest record, same booking engine, same dashboard you already check every morning. Guests choose whichever channel they are more comfortable with and you are not left checking two separate places.
It does not remove the phone number
Voice AI answers on the number your guests already call. Nothing about how a guest reaches you changes; what changes is what happens after they dial.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get Multilingual Voice AI for Hotel Bookings?
Voice AI is planned and is not available yet. WhatsApp AI is live today. Contact us for updates on Voice AI availability.
Which languages does Voice AI support?
The planned languages include Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Telugu, Odia, Gujarati and more Indian languages.
What happens on a call before Voice AI is enabled for my property?
Calls come to you or your staff directly, exactly as they do today. Any booking taken over a call can be entered into the OpenStays dashboard by hand so your calendar stays accurate, the same process properties already use.
How is it billed?
It uses the same prepaid, usage based credit system as the WhatsApp AI Concierge, billed per minute of call time rather than per message, with the exact per minute rate shown to you before you turn it on. The free starting credits on your plan cover it too.
Will it try to handle every kind of question?
No, by design. It answers routine questions directly, rates, availability, directions, what is included and flags anything unusual, sensitive or judgement based for you to call the guest back on, the same split the WhatsApp AI Concierge already makes today.
What happens to call recordings and guest data?
Call transcripts are handled the same way WhatsApp AI conversations already are: collected under consent and DPDP Act terms, used to deliver the service. Payment details are never stored by OpenStays itself; they are processed directly by the payment gateway, whether the payment started on a call, on WhatsApp, or on the booking page.
Will Voice AI replace the WhatsApp AI Concierge?
No. It is a second channel, not a replacement. WhatsApp stays the text channel; Voice AI is the equivalent for guests who call instead of message.
Does it work with my existing phone number and staff?
Yes. Voice AI answers on the number your guests already call, so there is nothing new to print, publish or ask guests to switch to. It sits alongside your staff, not instead of them and hands off anything it should not decide on its own.
